Fusion is our most customizable method. Individual strands attach to your own hair with small keratin bonds, each sized to the section it sits on, from the finest hair to the thickest. Because every strand is placed by hand, we can add length or density exactly where you need it, including the hairline and crown, where wefts can't go unnoticed. It moves like your own hair and sits close to the scalp, so no one can tell.
A K-tip is a strand of 100% human hair with a small keratin bond at the top. Keratin is the same protein your own hair is made of. The bond is not glue. It is fused to a small section of your natural hair and designed to be temporary, releasing cleanly when it's time to remove it.
Installed and removed correctly, fusion should not damage your hair. When it does, the cause is almost always a bond that's too heavy, a skipped appointment or a rushed removal. A trained extensionist prevents all three. Because every strand is placed individually, fusion suits fine hair, layered hair and targeted areas where a weft would show.
K-tip is the strand. Fusion is the method of attaching it. You'll hear both names for the same service.
Not sure which? That's what the consultation decides. We choose based on your hair, not a preference for one tool.
The keratin bond is set with an ultrasonic tool instead of heat and fused to a small section of your hair. No glue. The result is a gentler bond for delicate or fine hair, shaped to blend closely into your own, and it still releases cleanly.
The keratin bond is softened with a specialized heat tool and fused to a small section of your hair. No glue. The result is a strong, durable bond that holds up to active lifestyles and daily styling, and still releases cleanly at removal.
A consultation for hair extensions is crucial because it allows a professional stylist to assess the individual's hair type, texture, and condition to recommend the most suitable extension method. Through this process, the stylist can also discuss the various extension options available, their maintenance requirements, and any potential risks, ensuring amazing results!

During our consultation, we will review your desired hair length, color, volume, and style. Additionally, I may inquire about your hair care routine & lifestyle to help determine the ideal type of hair extensions that will suit you best. Together, we'll create the perfect plan for your dream hair transformation.
As part of our process, we carefully review & assess your natural hair type, texture, and color. This allows us to determine the most suitable and perfect type of extensions tailored specifically to enhance your hair beautifully.
Based on your hair goals and natural hair, I will recommend the type of extensions that will work best for you. We may suggest fusion extensions, weft extensions or a combination of extension types. Once evaluated we will go over pricing quote and installation agreement.
Once you're ready to proceed with the service, we can promptly schedule your appointment for the extension installation. To get started, a retainer will be required for purchasing your new hair, and together, we'll plan your exciting transformation day!
Bonds that are too heavy, placed too close to the scalp or removed badly are what cause breakage. We assess other salons' fusion work, remove it safely and re-install when your hair is ready.
Plan to spend the day with us. An installation takes 1.5 to 6 hours, depending on what your plan includes: removal of old extensions, color, the install itself, then a cut and style that blends everything together. Every strand is placed by hand, and we don't rush that. Snacks, drinks and lunch are on us.
How to prepare
A fusion install lasts 3 to 6 months. Where you land in that range depends mostly on how fast your hair grows and how you care for it at home.
Brushing and washing make the biggest difference. Brushing daily with an extension-safe brush, holding the hair near the bonds, keeps strands from tangling at the root. Washing the right way, with the right products, keeps the bonds clean and secure. When the install reaches the end of its wear, we remove the bonds and re-install.
Our packages cover 1 to 4 installs, from 4 to 16 months of wear, with maintenance, color, removal and aftercare products included.

Not when they're installed, maintained and removed properly. Damage from fusion almost always traces back to one of those three steps being done wrong, not to the method itself.
At installation, we wash and clarify your hair so every bond grips clean hair, and we size each bond to the section it sits on, so no strand carries more weight than your hair can hold. During wear, your move-ups keep bonds from growing out too far and pulling at the root. At removal, the keratin bond is released, not pulled out, and we take the time that step needs.
Because we install, color, cut and remove in the same studio, one team is responsible for your hair from the first bond to the last. If you've had a bad experience before, bring it to your consultation. It tells us exactly what to protect.

Cold fusion sets the keratin bond with an ultrasonic tool and no heat, which is gentler on delicate hair. Thermal fusion uses a heat tool and keratin adhesive for a stronger, more durable bond.
Yes. Keep hot tools below the bonds and use the lowest effective heat. Color is done in-studio so the extensions and your own hair stay matched.
Wait 48 hours after your install. Wash with your fingertips in a downward motion, condition mid-lengths to ends only, and never sleep with wet hair.

Every fusion install is priced for the person in the chair, so we quote it in person after we've seen your hair rather than publish a number that may not fit you.
Fusion takes more time and skill than any other method we offer, because every strand is placed and bonded to your own hair by hand. Two clients can ask for the same look and need very different installs. A fine-haired client may need more strands spread over more of her head to carry the weight safely. A client with thick hair may need fewer strands, but longer ones, to blend through her ends.
Your price depends on three things: how much hair you need, the length you want, and the color work it takes to blend. At your consultation we look at your density, your scalp and your current color, talk through the result you want, and set all three. The quote you leave with is the real cost for your hair, with no surprises at the install. It also covers what comes after: maintenance, any color or cutting to keep the blend right, and removal when it's time.

Extension hair isn't your hair. It has no roots feeding it, it's already been processed once, and it's attached with bonds, beads or thread that heat, lightener and scissors can damage. A stylist who doesn't work on extensions every day can undo a good install in one visit.
Some stylists do only extensions. Others do only color. At Alchemy you get both, working on the same head of hair and talking to each other.
Where it goes wrong: lightener near a bond or track
Extension hair takes color differently and can't recover from over-processing. Our colorists work on extension clients every week and color your hair and the extensions to match.
Where it goes wrong: blunt ends that show the blend
Extensions are cut into your own hair, not trimmed like it. We cut after every install and at move-ups so the line stays invisible as your hair grows.
Where it goes wrong: rushed move-ups and removals
That's the breakage people blame on extensions. The studio that installed them maintains and removes them, and checks your natural hair each time.
Beauty school spends little time on hair extensions, and MOST programs DO NOT touch them. Once stylists are licensed, Colorado and many other states don't require any continuing education to renew. Whatever a stylist knows about extensions, they learned on their own time.
Most clients who come to us to fix a previous install had it done by someone who probably learned every method in a single one-day class. We see the results in our chair: WHAT WE SEE — e.g. tension breakage, bonds placed too close to the scalp, poor color match.
Extensions are the center of what we do, so our education doesn't stop. Methods change, and we keep training on every method we offer as it changes. We belong to private extension communities where specialists share what's working, and we are certified by many brands to include our own training.
Extension certifications come from the hair brands themselves. We hold several, and we now train on our own brand, Alchemy Hair Extensions. We use other brands only for specialized hair orders, when one gives you a better result.

A group of seasoned extension professionals who meet, train and collaborate on all things extensions. We are certified by Rich Stylist to run our own training.

Every Alchemy stylist, from apprentice to pro, completes our in-house certification, with hundreds of hours of practice before working on clients.
